Indiana’s Public Health
Information Network
The goal of Indiana’s Public Health Information
Network is to provide public health workers throughout
the State the information resources and services they need to realize
the best results of their work in the interest of health of India
na’s citizens and in meeting the goals of Healthy People 2010.
This goal will be accomplished by fulfilling these objectives:
- Train the public health workforce to use the Internet and relevant
NLM, CDC, other government agencies, and state information resources.
This includes MEDLINE, MEDLINEplus, Toxnet, etc.
- Procure adequate equipment to conduct hands-on Internet training
for small groups at local sites for the public health workers in
the targeted area.
- Heighten awareness of relevant Internet information resources
available to public health workers through exhibits and presentations
at professional meetings of public health workers.
- Create a structure for public health workers to access the assistance
of a professional librarian and library collections as needed.
This project has been funded with federal funds from the National
Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, in cooperation
with the Centers for Disease Control, under contract No. NO1-LM-1-3513.
